Dear Parents:
This letter is to explain our lunchroom charging policy.
Every child on full or reduced meals can charge up to $13.50 before they are no longer allowed to charge
and will be required to have a turkey sandwich and milk for lunch at a charge of $0.75.
We are a very concerned school
district, and we do everything in our power to make sure all children
get a well-balanced meal every day. All elementary school children are
informed when they get low on funds to let their parents know that they need
more lunch money. In addition, we send at least four letters home each
week to each child who is over the charging limit. One is mailed, and
the rest are sent home in the child's book bag. We also call parents utilizing our school reach program as well as an email sent home.
Black Hawk and high school are informed of
their balance daily. Anyone who has a $2.00 negative balance gets a
letter sent home once a week. We feel that middle school and high school
students are old enough to tell their parents when they need money.
We hope this information will help
assure you that your child will get to eat a hot meal everyday. If you
have any concerns or questions, please feel free to call me anytime.
We also have a processing center at
Daniel Boone Elementary that you can call anytime and the staff would be
glad to answer any questions you might have about your child's account.
Sincerely,
Debbie Linke
