Library Procedures

1. Students are allowed to check out two books at a time unless special permission is received.
2. On a class’s library day, books are to be brought back, even if they will not be checked in that day.
3. Students must return all overdue items before additional items can be checked out.
4. If students return materials early, they may check out books before school or during recess.

Library Programs

The Library Media Center sponsors several programs for our students:

Mark Twain Award Program—Fourth and fifth grade teachers may read aloud or students may read independently from the nominees. Students who have heard or read at least four nominees may vote for their favorite.

Reading Counts—Computer generated comprehension quizzes on specific books. The list of Reading Counts books can be found in the Rebecca Boone Library or the Scenic Regional library in Warrenton.

Bookshelf Bucks—Students have the opportunity to earn bookshelf bucks by passing Reading Counts quizzes and by completing library assignments. Bookshelf bucks can be used to purchase items at the Library Auction in May.

Wall of Pride: For the past ten years, in honor of Veteran’s Day, Rebecca Boone students have been bringing in pictures of family members and friends who have served in, or are still serving in, the U.S. Armed forces. Thank you for the many pictures that you sent for our wall. We had to expand to a second wall and have now moved it inside the library for the rest of the year. Please come by and visit.
