Afternoon Bus Route Change...
Effective 2010-2011 School Year
Beginning with the start of the 2010 – 2011 school year we are changing the after school bus route loading procedure.
In the past we have shuttled bus riders from the High School, Warrior Ridge Elementary, and Rebecca Boone Elementary to the east parking area behind Daniel Boone Elementary and Black Hawk Middle School. After all the buses arrive, the bus riders would transfer from the shuttle buses they rode on to BHMS to their respective take home bus.
The new loading procedure will eliminate the shuttle buses as all after school route buses will travel to each school and pick up the bus riders. They will begin at the High School then travel to Warrior Ridge Elementary. After leaving Warrior Ridge, they will pick up the remainder of their students at the other buildings and then take students home on the normal after school route.
The students that load the buses will be just the students that normally ride that bus home from school. The bus will be the same bus that brings the students from home to school. Example: If your student rides Bus #2 to school in the morning, it will be the same Bus #2 that will bring them back home after school.
Only bus riders will be able to load the buses at each school. In order to operate the school buses in a safe and efficient manner no other students will be allowed to ride. Students that have used the shuttle buses to travel to the main campus in the past will no longer have that option. This includes students that walk home, pick up siblings at other buildings, and bus riders that transfer to a building and walk from there. Once an eligible bus rider loads the bus, it is our responsibility to transport them home. We cannot allow students to load the bus and be dropped off at any location except their residence. The only students that will be allowed to transfer from other buildings will be students that are enrolled in the latchkey program.
Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, students that have used the bus shuttles in the past to transfer to other buildings will now need to be picked up by their parent/guardian at their respective building in the proper pick up areas. Parents may call their student’s building office for information for the pick up locations and procedures.
These changes are being made as a number of safety and security issues have been identified within the school district that affect bus transportation. With these changes there will be increased control of bus ridership on the school buses which will make a much safer atmosphere for all the students of the Warren County R-III School District.
