Candidacy and Filing Procedures
The filing period for the April 3, 2012, general municipal election opens 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2011, and closes 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Two Board of Education directors will be elected. Each director will serve a term of three years. Missouri Statute establishes filing times and dates for Board of Education candidates. The filing place is the Warren County R-III School Central Office, 302 Kuhl Avenue, Warrenton, MO 63383. Regular business hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Office hours during the holidays may be abbreviated. Please call ahead during the holiday season.
Candidates must file a Declaration of Candidacy form, available at the Central Office stating that the candidate is a citizen of the United States, at least 24 years of age, a resident taxpayer of the Warren County R-III School District who has resided in Missouri for one year preceding the election, and has never been found guilty of or pled guilty to a felony or misdemeanor under the federal laws of the United States of America.
As mandated by the Outstanding Schools Act, known as Senate Bill 389 and by the State Board of Education rule, newly elected or appointed school board members are required to participate in training activities through the Missouri School Boards Association. These courses will build on the skills and knowledge necessary for the school board member to ensure a quality education of the district.
