Food Service Policy for Handling Charges

Dear Parents:
This letter is to explain our lunchroom charging policy.
Every child on full, reduced and free lunch can charge up to $7.50 before they are no longer allowed to charge and will be required to have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and milk for lunch.
We are a very concerned school district, and we do everything in our power to make sure all children get a well-balanced meal every day. All elementary school children are told when they get low on funds to let their parents know that they need more lunch money. In addition, we send at least four letters home each week to each child who is over the charging limit. One is mailed, and the rest are sent home in the child's book bag.
Black Hawk and high school are told their balance daily, and anyone who has a $3.00 negative balance gets a letter sent home once a week. We feel that middle school and high school students are old enough to tell their parents when they need money.
Your child's lunch balances can also be checked on ParentLink. The web address for that is www.SisParentLink.com/weco .
We hope this information will help assure you that your child will get to eat a hot meal everyday. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to call me anytime.
We also have a processing center at Daniel Boone Elementary that you can call anytime and the staff would be glad to answer any questions you might have about your child's account.
Sincerely,
Lorie Crawford
